Gurugram: No flats after five years, Renuka Aashiyara buyers protest

GURUGRAM: Buyers at Renuka Aashiyara in Sector 37C staged a protest against the developer on Sunday over the delay in the delivery of flats, even after five years. The buyers complained that the work at the site has been going on at a slow pace for the last 11 months.

The project was launched in 2018 and was supposed to be delivered by January 2023, but so far, only 63% of the work has been completed. The buyers complained that most of them had already paid 100% of their amount.

Several complaints have been made to the authorities concerned, but there has been no relief for the buyers yet.

“During the last two years, the developer has changed the timeline for the completion of the project five times. We had multiple meetings with DTCP, but the developer is not able to fulfil its commitment. So far, only 63% of the work has been completed and now only 60-70 labourers are working here. With the current pace, there is no hope of getting our home anytime soon,” said Gautam Maiti, the president of Aashiyara Society, a homebuyer association.

There are 716 flats in phase one and 276 in phase two.

The homebuyers also raised the issue of substandard quality and alleged that the developer is not adhering to the approved layouts and specifications.

“We are paying the EMI and rents that are causing a financial burden on us. There are many issues with construction quality that we have raised, but there has been no action. We doubt the developer will be able to deliver the flats even this year,” said Amrit Kumar, the general secretary of the homebuyers association.

Meanwhile, the representative of the developer has agreed that there has been some delay in the delivery of the project.

“The construction got delayed due to the pandemic-induced lockdown and ban on construction due to high pollution levelsWe have already submitted a detailed plan to the concerned department,” the representative added.
