​Addressing an event in which 55,000 houses built across Assam under the PM Awas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G) were handed over to the beneficiaries, Chouhan underlined the need for empowering women.

The apartment with a carpet area of 1,390 sq ft (129 sq meters) and a built-up area of 1,669 sq ft (155.02 sq meters) is located in Imperial Heights. It comes with a total of two car parking spaces.

"Earlier, over 50 RWAs submitted written petitions, and we had scheduled a meeting with the CEO on April 19. But it was cancelled and hasn’t been rescheduled," said FONRWA president Yogendra Sharma.

However, property owners, especially from the 110 villages and municipal councils that were added to the BBMP limits in 2008, have been facing a lot of problems. They have been waiting for months to get the e-khata certificates, they claimed.

The department of stamp and registration is working on a proposal to reduce and cap the registration amount for lease deeds. The changes are being considered in light of the existing rules, under which registration is an expensive exercise.
