Aaron Ville residents write to Gurugram deputy commissioner alleging harassment by the builder
GURUGRAM: Residents of Aaron Ville located in Sector 48 wrote to deputy commissioner Nishant Yadav on Sunday, alleging harassment by the developer, and sought his intervention. They claimed the builder is intimidating them and has illegally disconnected power supply.
They also flagged the problems of inaccurate bills, billing for common areas and unauthorised changes in meters by the developer without informing DHBVN or consumers. They further pointed out that the developer till date has not implemented a unified billing system despite direction from the discom.
In 2018, residents had filed a complaint to Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission (HERC) against the developer for charging beyond the applicable electricity tariff. Subsequently in 2019, the commission directed the developer to charge residents as per the regulations.
“Despite HERC order in 2019, the developer is charging a higher rate per unit. Unified billing is not being implemented by them even after the DHBVN maintained that there is no pendency from their end,” said Bindu Bhargava, RWA ex-president.
On February 23, the residents filed a police complaint after they were threatened with disconnection of electricity supply.
Jitin Rai Khanna, one of the residents, said that the developer is engaged in false billing practices with wrong meter readings, inconsistencies in billing are rampant in the society. “We have been repeatedly threatened with disconnection of electricity supply. Last year, DHBVN had confirmed completing all required actions and urged the developer to initiate unified billing. However, the builder has failed to do so till date,” Khanna added.
“Since bills are not generated as per prescribed format, we are not able to take benefit of differential slab rate. Despite multiple complaints to get meters calibrated, the developer has not done so in the last four years,” said Vikram Singh Yadav, another resident.
Meanwhile, the representative of the SS Group said, “Aaron Ville project was completed in 2012 and possession was given to residents the same year. The RWA was formed in 2021, which assumed full responsibility of the premises. It is the responsibility of RWA to look into any discrepancy and anomalies that may arise. At the time of possession, adequate measures and steps have been taken to ensure full legal compliance.”
