Indian Air Force to build 190 new houses in Chandigarh sector 31 and 47
CHANDIGARH: The Indian Air Force (IAF) will be constructing around 190 new houses after demolishing the existing old IAF houses in Sector 31 and 47.
A meeting was held under the chairmanship of UT Home Secretary Nitin Yadav, here on Friday, to resolve long pending issues of construction of houses for IAF personnel in Sectors 31 and 47.
Chief Administrative Officer of Air Force station Chandigarh Group Captain Kapil Galiyani led the team of IAF and MES officials.
“The units will come up in Sector 31 and 47 after the demolition of the existing houses of IAF. The houses of IAF personnel were constructed in 1960s. Now, these will be constructed in a stilt-plus-two format,” said an official.
The IAF will submit detailed plans with the administration for approval. “All issues related to housing of defence personnel were discussed and all the road blocks were cleared by home secretary to complete construction of about 192 houses,” the official said.
