Mega Kollur 2BHK colony ready, set for inauguration by Telangana CM today

HYDERABAD: The mega 2BHK dignity housing colony in Kollur is ready to be inaugurated by chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Thursday. The project comprising 15,660 dwelling units is spread across 145 acres and is divided into 117 blocks.

Each of the flats consists of a built-up area of 560sft and has a carpet area of 398sft. The total cost of the project is 1,489 crore. A cost of 8.65 lakh has been spent for each unit out of which the Centre’s contribution under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana has been 1.5 lakh.

Other civil infrastructure provided to 2BHK colony includes a VDCC road network of 13.5km, underground drainage system spanning 10.6km, nine MLD-capacity sewerage treatment plants, a drinking water pipeline network of 10.05km, three shopping complexes with 118 shops.

Explaining future developments, officials said they earmarked space for parks with dedicated cycling and walking tracks, playgrounds, open-air gyms, indoor sports complex, amphitheatre, schools, bus terminal, police station, fire station, banks and basthi dawakhanas.

Against the state’s promise of providing one lakh 2BHK houses to the poor, the Telangana government’s dignity housing scheme received a mammoth 7.09 lakh applications.

Out of the total applications received, 1.03 lakh applications were from areas outside GHMC limits, excluding 12,568 from Secunderabad Cantonment Board area. Highest (1.29 lakh) were from Kukatpally which houses the majority of slum dwellers.
