AMARAVATI: Notwithstanding the special leave petition filed by farmers in the Supreme Court, the state government has decided to distribute house sites in capital city area on May 15, with chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy scheduled to address a public meeting after the distribution of house sites.

Sources said the government’s legal advisors are of the view that the petition filed by the farmers might not be a hurdle to the distribution of house sites as the process is almost completed.

“Distribution of pattas is only a formality. We have already granted house sites to eligible poor among the applicants and communicated the same to them,” said a senior official, adding that the process was completed across the state two years ago and was stalled only in the CRDA region due to various legal hurdles.

The collectors of Guntur and NTR districts have already printed the pattas with the names of the 54,000 identified beneficiaries. The boundaries of their house sites would be handwritten in the books soon after the draw of lots. The district collectors have already communicated it to the beneficiaries and asked them get ready to receive the documents on May 15.

Guntur district administration has deployed additional teams in the capital city areas to complete the survey, land-levelling, and stone-planting works. Around six revenue divisional officers are camping in the area and monitoring the progress of land levelling and layout preparation works.

District collector M Venugopala Reddy, assistant collector Shiva Narayana Sharma, and Tenali sub-collector Geetanjali Sharma are checking the layout areas regularly.
