BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh economic offences wing (EOW) has issued a notice to Bhopal Smart City Development Corporation Limited (BSCDCL), seeking details of the process employed to auction its commercial plots worth crores.
The notice has been sent to the CEO, an IAS officer, for details of this scheme, including rules under which tenders were floated for selling the land in question. Sources said some officers involved in the project would be interviewed in this connection after getting the replies.
The EOW has begun a probe into whether any norms were flouted in the sale of plots on freehold basis for the Area Based Development scheme of BSCDCL.
No competitive bidding in land tender?
It has been alleged that the tendering process on commercial plots was made complex to benefit select builders, and despite the fact that only two bidders were participating in each of the tenders, BSCDCL failed to initiate a competitive tendering mechanism.
This has reportedly caused resentment among several builders in the city.
BSCDCL officers have denied any misconduct in the process.
Under probe are tenders invited for plot numbers 79 (A), 80 and 83. Their base prices were Rs 63.8 crore, Rs 70.7 crore & Rs 73.9 crore.
