Farmers take out tractor rally in Mohali on R-Day

Hundreds of farmers took out a tractor rally at Mohali in support of their demands on Republic Day. They have started an indefinite dharna (pucca morcha) at the Chandigarh-Mohali border against the state government for not accepting their demands.

The protest march led to traffic snarls but no untoward incident was reported. Mohali police also deployed adequate police force to control protesters. Chandigarh Police was also on alert and police force was deployed at the border to stop the protesters from entering the city. Due to the ongoing dharna of farmers at the UT-Mohali border, the stretch has been closed for commuters for more than one week.
